Abstract

Liv is an interactive creature. Just like a real creature Liv needs movement and Order mestinon syrup social attention to stay healthy. If you take good care of Liv, he will stay happy and healthy. Once in a while Liv asks you to play with it. By playing actively with Liv he will become happy and healthy. Sometimes Liv wants to talk to one of his congeners.

Ai??

As this happens Liv asks if you can bring her to one of her friends. When the Livs meet, they will start chatting in their own language. This is a great opportunity to meet the owner of this other Liv. Maybe it will become a friendship!

Patient & Problem

In the new hospital every child gets an individual room, which is shared with its parents. The positive side is that the patients have more privacy and donai??i??t have to bother other patients. But on the other hand it is more difficult to get in contact with other patients in the hospital. Being in touch with children with the same illness would make their stay in the hospital easier, since they share their experience.

Intervention

Every child in the hospital will get the change to keep an eye on Liv. Liv will be a friend to the hospitalized children and try to encourage children to come out of bed and make new friends. With the help of Liv the children will spent their days in the hospital more active and sociable. This active and more sociable lifestyle will contribute to the emotional wellbeing of the child.

Method

Through an iterative design process we came up with a lot of different shapes and sizes of Liv. By user testing with kids we came up with a suitable shape. Also the interaction design was an iterative process. With a lot of help from children we figured out how Liv was supposed to respond to certain situations. This way Liv became just like a real creature.

Outcome

With the problem and the stakeholders in mind we designed an interactive creature; Liv. Liv will make the stay in the hospital easier, by connecting patients with each other. Being in touch with children with the same illness would make their stay in the hospital easier, since they share their experience. This active and more sociable lifestyle will contribute to the emotional wellbeing of the child.
